This article reviews modeling, simulation, and performance of a bipolar driven BLDC motor. The study aims to contribute to the performance analysis of the motor by suggesting a detailed model of the considered BLDC motor drive system by combining the rectangular voltage and the predetermined trapezoidal back-emf and the harmonics. The effect of harmonics in the simulation was appropriately included in the current and torque relations. Performance simulation was carried out using PSIM Power Simulation Software. The simulation results were compared with the theoretical assumed mathematical model, and it was evaluated that the electrical and mechanical waveforms and results obtained were very close to the real ones. By integrating the back-emf waveforms and harmonic analyses the simulation results show that verifying the performance of the BLDC motor with PSIM software gives more accurate values in current, voltage, torque and speed calculations, where high precision is required.
